Back to Previous Productions

Our most recent production during October/November 2003 was:

Lettice & Lovage

Directed by Jill Ross

LETTICE & LOVAGE Another successful production, another terrific success for the whole team, enjoyed by those involved and those who saw it.  I'm still meeting people in the town who enthuse about the very professional standard we achieve, "Every bit as good as the Maggie Smith version".  Our director Jill Ross tells me that she thoroughly enjoyed her first production with us and wants to thank everyone who was involved in any way for all their hard work and total commitment. Despite the best efforts of the actors the star of the show was, of course, Samson (Felina Queen of Sorrows) the most laid back cat I have ever come across and, apparently, great company in the dressing room.

"Lettice & Lovage", a comedy by Peter Shaffer. This is the first time Jill has worked with us and we had fun on our way to a successful production. This wonderful play, which was premiered in Bath, is by one of our greatest living playwrights - Peter Shaffer. His other works include "The Royal Hunt of the Sun", "Amadeus", and "Equus". "Lettice & Lovage" was written in 1988 and won the Evening Standard Award for "Best Comedy of the Year". This is the story of the relationship between Lovage, a down-to-earth official from the Preservation Trust, and Lettice, an ex-Shakespearian actress, turned tourist guide, with an over-developed imagination and a taste for the dramatic!
